About The Scholarship
The Legacy Lacrosse Scholarship is awarded annually to four junior student-athletes within the Legacy Lacrosse Organization — two young women and two young men — who demonstrate leadership, character, and a commitment to excellence on and off the field.
Award
Each recipient will receive a scholarship award in an amount of $5,000!!
Winners are revealed every July.
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled as a junior within the Legacy Lacrosse Organization. Two scholarships are available for female athletes and two for male athletes.

The Process
All applications are reviewed anonymously. Once submitted, identifying information is removed so that every candidate is evaluated solely on their merits. Our selection committee reviews each application on equal footing — no names, no bias.

2026 Scholarship Recipients
Alex Chalifoux
Alex Chalifoux is a dedicated student-athlete at Saint Anthony’s High School (Class of 2027) maintaining a strong 3.9 GPA while taking advanced AP and Honors courses.
A midfielder for the Legacy Gators and 2026 CHSAA Champion with Saint Anthony’s, Alex served as team captain during both freshman and sophomore years. Beyond athletics, Alex actively leads within the school and local community as a member of the Saint Anthony’s Leadership Team (SALT), Friar Faithful, and the National Honor Society.
Passionate about service, Alex regularly volunteers with Challenger Athletics, teaching sports to children with disabilities, alongside supporting community initiatives like the Courtney Lynn Blakeslee Foundation 5K, Relay for Life, and youth lacrosse camps. In the classroom, Alex has received multiple academic awards. He is a recipient of the CHSAA scholar athlete award, Saint Bonaventure award, and high honor roll all 3 years of high school. Alex further his academic and athletic career at Hamilton College and plans on studying economics.
Christian Versacci
Christian Versacci has distinguished himself as an exceptional student-athlete at Center Moriches High School, consistently pursuing excellence in both the classroom and on the field. A versatile leader, he earned All-League honors in both lacrosse and football while being recognized with the Red Devil Scholar Athlete Award, as well as Sportsmanship and Extra Effort awards - reflecting his character, integrity, and relentless work ethic. This fall, Christian will continue his academic and athletic journey as a Division I lacrosse player at Hofstra University.
In the classroom, Christian has challenged himself through the rigorous International Baccalaureate program while earning membership in multiple Honor Societies. His academic achievements have been recognized through his selection as a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete and an All-Academic Football honoree.
Beyond athletics and academics, Christian has demonstrated a deep commitment to serving others through his involvement with Challenger Athletics and the Special Olympics Unified Summit, using sports to promote inclusion, connection, and opportunity for all.
Megan Brideson
I am a student-athlete who has balanced academics, athletics, leadership, and service throughout high school. I have competed in varsity lacrosse, volleyball, and basketball, and have been a varsity starter in both lacrosse and volleyball since ninth grade.
This year, I was honored to receive the College Board AP Scholar with Distinction award in recognition of my academic achievement. Outside of school and sports, I am working to create Simple Smiles, a community service club dedicated to fighting food insecurity by preparing and distributing lunches to individuals and families in need while inspiring others to make a positive impact through service in their own communities.
After high school I will attend Rollins College, where I plan to study actuarial science while continuing my athletic career as a member of the women’s lacrosse team.
Tessa Meehan
I am a dedicated student athlete at Sayville High School and have always loved participating in sports including my years spent with Legacy. I have been recognized as a leader in both athletics and in academics and have earned the AP Scholar award, and was recently selected as the student representative on the Sayville School Board of Education.
Athletically, I have been a member of Varsity Lacrosse and Soccer for the last two years, and my teams have had very successful seasons. Beyond athletics, I have taken part in school and community activities that have helped me to connect and learn from those around me while giving back.
I am planning to attend The University of Chicago where I will continue playing lacrosse and major in Economics. Receiving the first-ever Legacy Foundation Scholarship is an incredible honor and something I am truly grateful for. This scholarship represents leadership, integrity, and commitment which are all things I strive to demonstrate every day in the classroom, on the field, and in my community.
